The Airlander 10 is a hybrid airship that combines elements of airplanes, helicopters, and traditional airships.
Designed by British company Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV), it’s currently the world’s largest aircraft by volume, measuring 92 meters (302 feet) long.
History
- The Airlander 10 was originally developed as a US military intelligence surveillance project but was later repurposed for commercial and civilian use.
- The prototype crashed in 2016 but was later improved.
- Hybrid Air Vehicles is set to produce commercial models by 2026, with zero-emission flights expected by 2030.
