The proboscis monkey is a unique primate renowned for its distinctive appearance and intriguing behavior. Native to the island of Borneo, this primate has captivated the imagination of many. The most striking feature of the male proboscis monkey is its large nose, which gives the species its name. The nose is believed to play a role in attracting females and producing loud calls.

These monkeys are significantly large, with males being larger than females. They have a pot-bellied appearance, brown fur, and webbed feet for swimming. Proboscis monkeys are excellent swimmers and often spend time in mangrove forests and along riverbanks. They live in groups of up to 30 individuals, typically consisting of one adult male, several females, and their offspring.
